QUICK FIRE:

Wedding date: 3/8/2024

Spouses name: Jackson

If you could sum up your day in 3 words with no explanation: Romantic, Love and Joyful

Okay now the juicy stuff…

What was the most unexpected thing that happened on your wedding day? There were a few delightful surprises which we wanted to include within our wedding day to surprise our guests:

  1. Straight after the ceremony we had a 2.5HR apéritif where we had a dj and sax playing which really created a fun party atmosphere for our guests;

  2. Our cake cutting moment where we had fireworks

  3. The utilisation of the space of our venue, we held a welcome dinner which was in the grand saloon the night before and then on the wedding day we had 3 different spaces used for the wedding. I think the changing of scenery for each part of our wedding really kept our guests surprised with where they were heading to.

Which moment from your nuptials remains the most cherished in your memory?

My most cherished moment was hearing Jackson’s personalised vows, they were so heartfelt, and I know a lot of thought, time and effort went into preparing them. Jackson is a very private person so witnessing how vulnerable he was in front of our family and friends was beautiful and really special moment.

Who or what served as the muse for your bridal beauty?

I wanted an elevated version of myself for the day and did not want to deviate too much from how my makeup usually is. For hair, I wanted something timeless and manageable with weather conditions (in case it was humid/windy etc) plus I really wanted to show off the neckline of my wedding dress as the detailing of the lace and bodice was incredible craftsmanship. I drew on the wedding hair looks of Aime Bakewell, Vera Fursova and Lauren Kyle.

As for beauty, I wanted to stick with my usual peachy, bronze and coral tones, with emphasis on my lip colour and blush being key stand outs.

What was the quintessential inspiration that guided your wedding planning?

I wanted to have a wedding which was classy and timeless and something which I can reflect back on when I am older and be proud of, knowing that I did not follow a specific trend which is in for that year. Further, having a destination wedding in Italy, I drew on the inspiration of the setting to ensure that it complimented the space we were in

Did you weave any traditions into your celebration or go against any traditions?

Jackson and I went against traditions in which we opted to only have us standing at the alter in lieu of formal bridesmaids and groomsmen. We wanted the ceremony to really be about us. Other than this, we stuck with the traditions of first dance, cake cutting and speeches from our parents, maid of honour, the best man and the groom.

What was the most challenging obstacle you faced during the wedding planning process?

Planning an international wedding where there are time zone differences, language barriers and cultural differences, this was my most challenging obstacle, especially with my line of work where I am used to a quick turnaround with responses. I had to embrace the fact that this is not always the case with European countries. However, I received constant reassurance from my mum in that everything will work itself out and I learnt to embrace the more relaxed approach to the wedding

What advice would you give to future brides embarking on their wedding planning journey?

Identify what are the key areas you want to spend money on and ensure you lock in these vendors early. In parallel with booking our venue, I prioritised securing our photographer, hair and beauty team. Further, as much as the wedding is about your partner and you, it is paramount that the guests get looked after well, food is really important and is something my partner and I wanted to ensure was prioritised, as there is nothing worse than going home hungry after a wedding.

Finally, getting a dress made can take 8-9 months with bridal designers, so ensure this is completed very early on and track every cost/forecast cost in a spreadsheet to ensure you manage your budget.

How did you curate the perfect venue for your wedding, and what drew you to it?

My partner and I wanted a destination wedding in Italy and the scenery of rolling hills, with a lot of greenery was always an appeal for us over a coastal location. We also wanted to go to a location where our guests had never travelled to which would be less touristy than spots such as Lake Como and Tuscany. Our research led us to the Umbria and Marche region and when we came across Villa Teloni we were instantly obsessed with the greenery, large trees and the various spaces including the beautiful historical saloon which was our contingency spot for the reception in case it rained on the day.

Further, the villa could sleep up to 48 guests and this was really important for us in making our final decision as we wanted majority of our wedding guests to stay with us over the 3 days of events, as we believed it would make the experience even more memorable for our guests and create a really fun and electrifying atmosphere. It filled Jackson and my heart throughout the 3 days, witnessing our family and friends (some meeting for the first time), creating really great connections, hanging out, going out for breakfast together, by the end of the 3 days, all our guests became family with each other.

Could you share the story of your ASTON Bridal moment, and why it was special to you?

I came across Aston Bridal when I saw Elise’s wedding mini and absolutely adored how playful the dress was. I really wanted the same dress, but having a wedding gown which was lace, I wanted my mini to strip back to a plain material with an added twisted of a bow. I have always been obsessed with bows, my year 12 formal dress had a large bow on it and given we had bows incorporated into our ceremony design with the aisle chairs and our stationary with our guest names, I thought it would be a great touch to incorporate this element into the design of the mini. Miranda brought my vision to life, the dress is timeless and a piece I plan on keeping forever.

Which vendors did you collaborate with, and how did they make your celebration extra special?

Each vendor made our day special:

Our planner helped with coordinating the day, fluffing my gown when I walked out of the villa to our ceremony and surprised us with a video from the day which they had made for us

Our H&M ladies were fantastic and created a really relaxing, fun and stress free environment when everyone was getting ready.

Our photographer was incredible and made Jackson and I feel really relaxed when capturing moments from the day. She really instilled us with confidence when taking our photos and captured a lot of candid moments.

Catering was such a highlight for us, they were so generous with serving and continued coming around the table to offer our guests top up of food throughout each course. What was great to see was their level of care in catering to all our guests that had allergens, they really took note of who these people were and treated them special. I was completely in awe of how our wedding cake was, the execution matched my vision and the taste was amazing, with the whole cake being eaten on the night.

Stationary: Tamara was incredible to deal with and brought our vision to life. I have always been obsessed with bows, and her design for our stationary was playful but also classy. We absolutely adored our seating chart.

Florists: were incredible and executed our vision, from the florals for the wedding cake, to the gorgeous ceremony and table display, I was blown away.
